If you loved the Throne of Glass series or A Court of Mist and Fury, here are 30 books that I love and have noticed other fans adore as well. The plots may not necessarily be the same, but there are a lot of similar elements! I’ve linked to their Goodreads pages so you can check them out/add them if you haven’t already:

  1. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
  2. The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E Pearson
  3. Sabriel by Garth Nix
  4. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
  5. The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
  6. The Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima
  7. The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski
  8. The Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes
  9. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
  10. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  11. The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine
  12. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
  13. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
  14. Uprooted by Naomi Novik
  15. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
  16. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
  17. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
  18. Defy by Sara B. Larson
  19. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
  20. The Air Awakens series by Elise Kova
  21. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
  22. Stolen Songbird by Danielle L Jensen
  23. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
  24. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
  25. Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
  26. Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay
  27. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
  28. Eragon by Christopher Paolini
  29. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
  30. Ruined by Amy Tintera

And the Tairen Soul series by C.L. Wilson is more NA or adult, but it is hilariously similar to A Court of Mist and Fury! (Ignore the cheesy covers and weird bits — the worldbuilding is fun).

I could probably double the length of this list, but I think that’s enough for now… let me know in the comments if there are other similar books you liked!

Look at that… I have more to add. I’ll just keep adding to this list:

  1. The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
  2. The Valiant by Lesley Livingston
  3. A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi
  4. Half a King by Joe Abercrombie
  5. The Shadowfell trilogy by Juliet Marillier (and all of her other books)
  6. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
  7. Shadowcaster by Cinda Williams Chima
  8. Death Sworn by Leah Cypess
  9. Hunted by Meagan Spooner

  1. Wow, I definitely need to check these books out! I’ve read some of them (not going to count right now, but definitely less than half), and I like them and Throne of Glass so much that I know I’m going to love the other books. Thanks for the list!

  2. Wanted to first say thanks for the list, but also to note that the light pink color can be a bit hard to read. I’m partially color blind so that could be the issue, but I thought I’d drop the feedback.

    • Thanks for letting em know! I’m still working on the general design of my blog and have changed the links to be a bit darker now 🙂
