Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents’ invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.
Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.
The second book in the Firebird trilogy, Ten Thousand Skies Above You features Claudia Gray’s lush, romantic language and smart, exciting action, and will have readers clamoring for the next book.
WHERE DOES CLAUDIA GRAY COME UP WITH THIS STUFF. This is such a creative story and I am so emotionally invested by this point!
It’s like part sci-fi, part historical romance, part contemporary, part war/mafia stuff, and… just this awesome fantasy book that never gets dull! I’ll admit it took me a bit to get through the first 50+ pages when it kept summarizing the previous book. I started it before Christmas but didn’t finish for another month. But the story as a whole really does avoid any second book syndrome. The multiple dimensions definitely keep things moving and constantly new!!
I liked how there are multiple versions of everyone and they’re all totally different people based on their own life experiences, BUT I did struggle to keep all of the different versions of each character straight sometimes. Like I had to remind myself which version of Paul is homicidal, which one loves her, which one she loved more than the real one, etc. Actually it was mainly with Theo versus his other self… but I totally ship her with Theo. I think. Like the real Theo? I promise this makes sense.
The cliffhanger ending here is SO INTENSE and the wait has been super hard because I just want everyone in every dimension to survive aaaahhh.
