The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) Vin, the street urchin who has grown into the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and Elend Venture, the idealistic young nobleman who loves her, must build a healthy new society in the ashes of an empire. Three separate armies attack. As the siege tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows.

Maybe don’t read this if you don’t want the end of the first book spoiled.

Oh man, these books are hard to rate. This was a lot like the first one where I was mildly interested in the beginning, then pretty bored for a good chunk of the book… and then flipping through the last 20% like

And there are so many characters.

This whole world is just amazingly complex and I love the ideas so much. I don’t know if I read too many books lately or why I’ve stopped having much emotional response to most stories, but this one actually made me tear up still. And then THAT ENDING was all sorts of

Basically the last 10% was so amazing that I need to stop typing this now and go read the third book.
